Great Yerington Yard Sale

Save the date! And save your ‘stuff.’ The first Great Yerington Yard Sale is coming this fall!

YAPS’s Great Yerington Yard Sale will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2011. It will be in conjunction with the Arts and Blues at the Center / A Taste of the Valley at the Jeanne Dini Cultural Center.

The GYYS is a coordinated effort to have yard sales all over the area on the same day. People will drive distances to attend an event like this. Evidence is the huge success of the Iowa Highway 141 Garage Sale. This well-established event brings thousands of vendors and shoppers from all over the Mid-West. All across the US there are very successful events like this.

YAPS will be maintaining the website and advertising the event. YAPS will manage a central yard sale location with booths for the vendors. However, it is expected that most of the yard/garage sales will be held at homes through out the area.

All registered vendors and vendors renting booth space will be listed on the YAPS Great Yerington Yard Sale web site along with hours their sale will be open, list of sale items, and notations as requested by the vendors. They will also be included on the map provided to shoppers on line and paper copy the day of the event. For questions on the YAPS events, please call Diane Davis 463-3699.

YAPS requests that individuals and organizations planning yard/garage sales as well as other fundraisers consider holding their event this week end and registering with the YAPS web site for inclusion on the map. The more events for the same day, the better chance of attracting out of town shoppers and visitors.

The Annual Arts and Blues at the Center / A Taste of the Valley is being held the same day from 3 PM until 10 PM. This event is held at the Jeanne Dini Cultural Center at 120 North California. A free outdoor concert will be provided by The Colin Ross Band from Reno, and by Aesthetic Cling from Sutter Creek, California. A Taste of the Valley vendors will offer local foods, drink and unique regional arts for purchase throughout the day and into the evening. There will be small fees for registration and booth rental. Registration is $5 and booth space is $10. Proceeds will benefit YAPS’s spay/neuter programs. YAPS is a 501.c.3 with a primary focus on eliminating the problem of unwanted dogs and cats through spay/neuter. For questions please call Diane 463-3699.
