Yerington Animal Shelter Volunteers

Report

YAPS helps support the Yerington Animal Shelter which is owned by the City if Yerington and staffed by volunteers.

Our major contribution is to have all the dogs spayed/neutered before they are made available for adoption. YAPS requests adopters pay $50 to help defray this cost.

YAPS partners with the Yerington Animal Shelter Volunteers on several projects during the year including the Christmas Angel Tree for Local Pets, the shelter food bank for local pets, and reduced cost vaccination clinics (also with the Yerington Animal Hospital). We also provide free booth space to the Shelter Volunteers at all our events, and assist them in fund raising.

NOTES;
* 2011 wa a very good year at the shelter!! See the 2010- 2011 compatision

* The shelter continues to receive substantial monetary donations for improvements. Currently there is $1200 + in the shelter fund and we have submitted a list of needs.

* Thanks to the YAPS newspaper articles, our food pantry is well stocked and we hav lots of nice blankets.

* Jesse Roberts is still interested in pursuing a shelter for cats. He is gong to talk to Dan Newell about locating a cat shelter on the east side of the animal shelter.

* Sorry about the handwritten notes- the shelter printer isn't working and my printer is out of ink.
